Satisfied (1984) is a song for mezzo-soprano or baritone and various accompaniment options. The lyrics take their inspiration from Psalm 104. Here, the Psalmist meditates on life's transient nature, being wholly dependent on God breathing us into existence until our return to dust. Yet he does so with joy and lightness. The music reflects this joy and dance-like freedom while finally ending on an eternal character.
This work was first performed in 1984 at Tenth Presbyterian Church, Philadelphia.
